Full Job Description

The Royal Air Force is recruiting for an RAF Radiographer to join its diagnostic healthcare team and play an important role in supporting patient care. This permanent position involves producing high-quality diagnostic images that help clinicians assess and treat patients. The successful candidate will use a range of technical imaging equipment and work alongside radiologists, healthcare professionals and clinicians across different departments, including the Emergency Department, ITU, Operating Theatres, Inpatients, Outpatients and Portable Imaging. The position offers an initial annual pay of £27,200+, plus benefits, with pay increasing to £29,000+ after successful completion of Phase Two training. Applicants may apply as qualified radiographers if they hold a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and are registered with the HCPC as a Diagnostic Radiographer. Unqualified applicants may enter through the RAF’s undergraduate training programme and study for a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography. Candidates must meet the required age, education, nationality, residency, health and fitness criteria and be able to commit to a minimum of 12 years of service. The role includes basic recruit training followed by specialist radiography training and ongoing professional development. Candidates must also complete the required selection interviews, health assessment, fitness test, and specialist interview. Requirements

• BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography for qualified applicants.
• HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
• Unqualified applicants need 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4, including Maths, English and Science.
• Grade BBB in three A-level subjects, including Science.
• Must be aged 17–47.
• Must meet the required nationality and residency criteria.
• Must meet RAF health and medical requirements.
• Must pass the required fitness test.
• Must achieve Security Check (SC) clearance.
• Must commit to a minimum of 12 years of service.

Responsibilities

• Produce diagnostic images to support patient treatment.
• Use a range of technical imaging equipment.
• Work under the clinical direction of a radiologist.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals and clinicians.
• Work across the Emergency Department, ITU, Operating Theatres, Inpatients and Outpatients.
• Perform portable imaging when required.
• Work as part of a team of military radiographers.
• Maintain HCPC registration and continue professional development.
• Attend relevant training days and conferences.
