Full Job Description

The Salvation Army is hiring a Community Mission Coordinator in Staple Hill, Bristol, offering £26,299 per year on a fixed-term contract for two years, with the possibility of an extension subject to funding. The role involves 35 hours per week, although 28 hours may also be considered, with some flexibility around working one Saturday each month. The successful candidate will help coordinate the existing community programme and work closely with volunteers and employees. Activities include drop-ins, a food store, Employment Plus, Bible study groups, mid-week worship, coffee mornings, a toddler group, lunch club and seasonal activities. The coordinator will also have the opportunity to identify local needs and develop new initiatives using available resources.

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, motivated and well organised, with the ability to lead activities, coordinate volunteers, manage administration and build relationships with local groups and agencies. The successful applicant must be a committed and practising Christian, actively involved with their own Church and supportive of The Salvation Army’s aims and objectives. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as The Salvation Army is not a licensed sponsor. The appointment is subject to satisfactory references and the required Enhanced DBS checks. The interview is scheduled for Thursday 1 October 2027, and applications may close early if enough suitable applications are received.

Requirements

• Satisfactory references are required.
• A satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure check of the Adult Workforce is required.
• An Enhanced DBS with Barred List check of the Child Workforce is required.
